Short Wave
A high frequency radio energy, which
sets up a rapid oscillation or vibration in the cells of the follicle
producing heat. Using this method, the hair tissue is then cauterized.
Galvanic
The Galvanic Method uses direct current
to produce sodium hydroxide in the follicle, which then chemically acts to
annihilate the hair tissue.
Blend
The Blend Method combines both the
Short Wave and Galvanic modalities and, with the oscillation of the high
frequency radio energy, produces heated sodium hydroxide to destroy the hair
tissue.
Although the treatment is eventually permanent, several applications of the
treatment are usually required to achieve this.
The information below, taken from a survey of electrolysis treatment, can be
used as a rough guide to the duration of treatment required to achieve
permanent hair removal for a particular area, but should not be used as a
guarantee.

Some common questions about electrolysis:
Does it hurt ?
The sensation can be described as a pricking, mild burning sensation each
time the needle is applied. Clients tend to report it as being uncomfortable
rather than outright painful.
Is it safe and hygienic ?
Electrolysis is perfectly safe. Our therapist only uses Sterexä products,
and is highly trained in the
use of the equipment. Treatment is only carried out on clients following a
thorough consultation as demanded by strict Health and Safety requirements.
All Sterexä needles are disposable, removed in a designated sharps box, and
the therapist must wear disposable rubber gloves during treatment.
Are there any side effects ?
Skin reactions such as erythema (skin redness) and occasional weals or bumps
from the follicle are common after electrolysis. This reaction subsides
after the electrolysis treatment.
Is the therapist qualified and experienced ?
Our therapist is a fully qualified electrologist with many years of
experience in the use of the Sterexä equipment. She will be happy to supply
her professional credentials upon request.
Who can be treated with electrolysis ?
Electrolysis is suitable for both men and women who require a permanent
solution to unwanted hair. It has also become popular with transgender males
looking to permanently remove masculine facial hair.
Various hair removal treatments are available. How do I know which is
best for me ?
We offer both waxing treatments and electrolysis treatments for hair
removal. Our beautician will happily talk through both types of treatments
on a client by client basis, based on their individual requirements. More
information on waxing can be found in the
waxing
section in the treatment room.
I am embarrassed about my unwanted hair, is the therapist sympathetic and
discreet ?
Our therapist is used to seeing clients’ unwanted hair and offers full
assurance of client confidentiality.
